Blackout Periods ( Leave Lock)

This section refers to advanced absence management which is included in all of our paid products and can be accessed via the main navigation.

Blackout periods, or "leave lock" as it is called in the app, allow you to block specific days for selected absence types. This feature can be particularly useful during high season or peak volume periods when team availability is critical.

However, we recommend ensuring that regulatory requirements in your region do not restrict the use of this feature.

Adding a Leave Lock

  1. Go to Absences in the main navigation and click the "Options" tab.
  2. Click "Add Leave Lock."
  3. In the dialog window, select the start and end dates for the blackout period.
  4. Choose one or more absence types that will be prohibited during the designated period.
  5. Optionally, add a comment to display if an employee attempts to request an absence of a prohibited type within this period.
  6. Click "Save".

The newly added leave lock will appear in the "Leave Lock" section. It can be edited if needed. The leave lock will take effect immediately, preventing employees from requesting absences for the selected type(s) during the defined period.
