Drag-and-Drop Shifts in Calendar
This article is for shift supervisors, managers and business administrators.
This feature is available on desktop.

You can easily add, copy and move shifts by dragging and dropping them – either from the so called "assignment bar" (also called the pills bar) . You will find it just above the calendar view. It’s where you can drag employees or locations into the calendar to create shifts. Depending on the selected view mode (employee mode or location mode), the bar will display either locations assigned to the selected employee or employees assigned to the selected location. The assignment bar also includes the tag filter, which can filter both the calendar view and the pills in the assignment bar, depending on the selected tags.
Creating new shifts
To create a new shift, drag a pill from the assignment bar directly onto a day in the calendar. When you drop it, the shift editor will open with the selected employee and location already filled in. If the employee has availability options defined — such as working hours or preferred days — those will be prefilled as well.
Copying and moving shifts between days
To reschedule a shift to another day, hover over the shift, click and hold the drag handle (=), then drag and drop it onto the desired day. The shift will be removed from its original date and moved to the new one. If you decide to cancel the move while dragging, simply drop the shift back onto its original date — nothing will change.
If you want to copy the shift instead of moving it, press and hold the [Shift] key while dragging and dropping the shift onto another day. The original shift will remain in place, and a copy will be created for the new date.
Special Behavior in the “7 Days” View
In the “7 days” view — a weekly layout that displays all locations or employees together — you can even drag shifts between locations or employees (depending on the active view mode, which you can switch using the top bar). You can also move and copy open shifts, but only into locations that allow open shifts. This setting can be changed in each location’s profile.
